Same problem: Networking disabled (after hibernation) and the enable greyed out.
I'll try the solution today.
Anyway there is a lot bug around the new "power management"...
I dont have suspend to ram, and hibernation does not work correctly.
I dont get why Karmic just worked out of the box.

Since today I'm affected too. I use Xubuntu Lucid/32-bit on a Lenovo
X61s. "ifconfig eth0 down" fixed the problem for the time being; I
didn't yet try the "remove battery" trick.
Re comment #32: I don't have Windows on my computer, that's not the

Please forgive my bluntness, I think a survey would be an unnecessary
act. It's a simple fact that in the UK, people will refer to it as the
"bin", "dustbin", "rubbish bin" or for something to be recycled "recycle
bin" or "[put it in the] recycling" which is less common.

This bug is definitely not solved. The solution using gksudo (or
something similar) is really a pain. Everytime my laptop's backlight
changes an authentication dialog is popping up. That should be solved
in a more "elegant" way (is it even possible without root privileges?!)

I got daring just now and booted a fully updated 10.04 box on the KVM
with the mouse from the KVM plugged into the computer. This problem
appears to have disappeared fortunately. I will test it out for a while,
however, and report back to this bug report.

MySQL would be stopped and restarted, would that take care of the /tmp backlog ?
If not, then it could indeed be an issue.
Moving files from /tmp to /var/tmp/mysql would need extra care (to not
inject rogue files). Maybe asking MySQL to commit /tmp backlog before
upgrade (if that makes sense) is t

I think the problem is that no-one feels that they have the authority to
