I get the same behavior but from "Serial Wacom Tablet touch" - but only going
to (almost) bottom left corner - would guess coordinates are (50,50), clicking

Seeing as how I can't get the box running reliably with the effected
kernel, I won't be able to apport-collect
Since the kernel error is in the initrd and does not pass it, dmesg
won't be much use either, and I can't snag it from a locked initrd.

The backported patch applies cleanly to xorg-server 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.2,
affects the single function ProcXTestFakeInput(), works as described,
and should be included in proposed 7.3 if possible.
I have attached an isolated diff for inclusion into the proposed
package.

Thank you for reporting this issue. I am changing the package to udev,
which handles the dvd-drive now. This is a possible regression. It may
be related to bug #562978, which is fix-released.
I am confirming this bug report based on the images submitted as an
attachment.
