having some trouble with open-jdk's mozilla plugin, I removed the
package via synaptic completely and installed sun-java6-plugin with all
it's dependencies. After restarting firefox, the applets I had trouble
with under open-jdk

Unfortunately I have to say that as I am not able to use Brasero to burn
my DVD/CD I am using K3b where at the moment is working properly.

gnome-panel.
I've been running this for two days now (and have restarted over 20
times in addition for testing) and I haven't seen the problem any more.

Almost every time I turn my laptop on, the boot process just freezes on the

There is a workaround for this issue, though it differs a bit depending on the
model of the computer.
I too have a Lenovo SL510, and just managed to solve it. Just open the Alsa
config file with "sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf", and add the line
"options snd_hda_intel model=quant
This "minor" bug is going to cause me to switch to some other operating
system.
It isn't minor when I click on the close button of a window, and instead
my O/S closes the window behind it. This behavior can literally cost me
money (and has).

try editing the vpn setting:
IPv4 Settings -> Routes -> Use this connection only for resources on its
network (enabled)
That should do what you want (I'm not sure why this is being forced on -
the VPN itself doesn't ask for the route to be added).

I have simplified a file on which the bug occurs. It still occurs.
To be more accurate about my first description regarding memory allocaton, I
have noticed that if the zoom isn't too big, there is a big allocation, the
zoom is performed and the memory is freed in a decent amount of time.

Hello, Fabio. I would say that this problem is not totally solved in Ubuntu
10.04.
Lucid Lynx gives access to a plugin for HP Laserjet 1018, wich works fine.
Most of the times, I get a clean boot with no problems at all.
