After extensive testing I found out that this had to do with the vnc_tls
parameter in qemu.conf.
If it is set to 1 it fails with the error message above.
I will investigate more and file a bug if its not just misconfiguration.

Fill me in on a few things. Are you useing an integrated VGA adapter,
and are you useing a 32-bit distro on a 64-bit machine? I had a similar
problem with both. After installing a seperate VGA adapter, the problem
subsided and did not happen as offten, and after installing a 64-bit
distro, the prob

Yes, I meant MySQL was running before the OS upgrade. Actually there is
a log entry in VarLogDistupgradeApttermlog.gz which shows that it had
been running for about a month. I had the feeling that MySQL was stopped
by the upgrade script before the bacula upgrade, and indeed I saw a few
lines *after
i could solve my poweroff failure at shutdown
(see message above with listings of dmsg, lspci, etc.)
i used as the only kernel-boot-option:
acpi=oldboot
and the shutdown with poweroff did work like in older kernel versions
again.

running kvm with -cpu qem64,-nx also shows no difference so don't
believe it is NX related this time (but not ruling it out) however the
symptoms are similar to that old bug.

currently i turned KMS off to work around this problem, however i'd like

I'm having what appears to be the same crash, though not when viewing an
image. My server crashes maybe 1 out of 3 times upon initial login. If
I get past this point, it seems to be stable. I've attached my Xorg log
from the crash.

I have spent some more time on this with Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop.
The good news is that this latest version does turn the light off
when you "dis-Enable" networking on the icon for wireless.
So you now have a good feeling that you are bringing up the
card.
