I experience exactly the same but I don't have Adblock Plus installed.
Yesterday a had a strange experience. If I deactivated all my 5 addons I
could make it work once. After that it was back to "normal". This
morning a deactivation doesn't change a thing :-(

It is definitely related to suspend. It does not happen all the time
though as my experiments show. Worst of all I am not able to suspend any
longer once the ksoftirqd is consuming 100%

This is a little nightmare!
Having installed grub2, I now find that post-upgrade as of today, I
cannot un-install grub2!
The new linux image reports it will not install
Gnome apps such as 'system monitor' think that it is installed BUT this
is NO
This problem is still present with gtk+2.0 2.21.1-1ubuntu1 (as was
probably expected).

Do you have the auctex package installed? You are probably just seeing
/etc/cron.weekly/auctex (which runs every week in the background as
root).
