Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

This is a little nightmare!

Having installed grub2, I now find that post-upgrade as of today, I
cannot un-install grub2!

The new linux image reports it will not install

Gnome apps such as 'system monitor' think that it is installed BUT this
is NOT the kernel that is running!
