I found a workaround. Before installing the VMware-Tools I rename
/sbin/insserv to /sbin/insserv.bak - then the VMware-Tools installer
uses update-rc.d as a fallback. After the installation I rename
/sbin/insserv.bak back to /sbin/insserv .

running some programs during upgrade. So I did reboot to recovery mode

I have the same problem:
Home directory of LDAP user is connected via NFS -> Thunderbird do not start:
Segmentation fault.
If I start thunderbird with a local user with a local home directory ->
Tunderbird starts without any problems.

I can confirm major packet loss while running 2.6.34, with and without
