This is a must-fix, I have to say that pcmanfm has the same behavior,
either in the standard or nohal flavours in my system, libfm is not
installed in my implementation, there is no fix for this in xubuntu
lucid amd64. I have seen this bug before, on other upgrade.

I have a similar machine: IBM IntelliStation Z Pro 6221 48A. I have one
less SCSI disk and one IDE disk.
I get a kernel panic during boot with the 9.10-desktop, 10.04-desktop
and 10.04-alternate LiveCDs (all 32-bit). I will attempt a serial

On loading the live CD I deactivate dmraid and apply my patch and reactivate my
raid arrays and the install worked flawlessly.
I am very impressed with the dmraid support out of the box (almost).

I've installed the mainline kernel 2.6.34-999-generic and so far I
haven't had a lock up. I can't vouch that it's fixed yet but so far it's
the longest that Ubuntu has stayed up on my laptop (now over 2 hours).

I'm experiencing something somewhat similar on a home server of ours.
The four partitions (/, /boot. /home, /var) are all MD RAID1 arrays.
On a reboot yesterday morning, the MD array /boot was on failed to
start. This morning, it was the /home array.
When I logged in this morning, /home was not

I can confirm adding "acpi_osi=Linux" fixes the problem on my Eee PC
T101MT. If I also add "acpi_backlight=vendor", screen brightness

I've experienced the same problems with my Dell Optiplex 740 (BIOS
1.2.2).
One of our eminent system engineers suggested that I should add "mem=1G"
as a boot option. This made the Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 live cd boot with no
