I think I may have found another workaround. If possible, try doing it the
old-school way - add/update monitor and screen sections in your xorg.conf based
on the mode info in your xorg.log, similar to comment 17 in the fdo bug at

Definitely invalid against euca2ools.
I added that task for internet archival reasons. Someone searching
for this bug might look for or file it against euca2ools, and this
gets that text onto the page, even though ultimately it would be
closed as invalid.
