I think I may have found another workaround. If possible, try doing it the old-school way - add/update monitor and screen sections in your xorg.conf based on the mode info in your xorg.log, similar to comment 17 in the fdo bug at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17255 This is similar to what is described on the Ubuntu Troubleshooting Resolution Problems wiki at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Resolution
You may also need the 2.6.33 kernel (or it's DRM as mentioned by Bryce in comment 10) to get around the (II) intel(0): Not using default mode "1920x1080" (monitor doesn't support reduced blanking) error. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #17255 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17255 -- [gm45] Can't use external monitor at full resolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524299 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
