While testing Lucid-Alpha-3 the suspend/resume function did not work.
After the suspend command the system shutdown. Pressing the power button the
system (drives) as usual restarted but the monitor did not respond (stand-by

strange graphics errors on startup. after a while and hacking in all
sorts of keyboard combination (ctrl+alt+F1 et. al.) X finally starts and

Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted
archive. Please execute the following commands, as it will clear your
package cache, in a terminal ( Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal )
:
sudo apt-get c
Lucid has the same as well.

This annoying bug affects me also since the release of Karmic. After
startup, in 80% times the Notification area is messed up, icons are
duplicated and sometimes the sound is muted.
NVidia FX5200 video card here, if it has anything to do with it. I never
had this issue on previous Ubuntu releases.
Sorry, it seems that that the buggy update was gdm 2.28.1-0ubuntu1,
since synaptic's history tells that I have reinstalled (to see if it
helps to solve this bug) gdm 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 on 7.11.2009.
