This annoying bug affects me also since the release of Karmic. After startup, in 80% times the Notification area is messed up, icons are duplicated and sometimes the sound is muted.
NVidia FX5200 video card here, if it has anything to do with it. I never had this issue on previous Ubuntu releases.
