I can confirm that upgrading to the xorg-edgers PPA fixed this problem for me
on a Dell Latitude D400.

In a terminal, after giving the below command
sudo chmod 755 /boot/grub/grub.cfg
sudo gedit /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Replaced kernel parameters
quiet splash
with
nomodeset
Then
File, save. File, Quit.
To change the mode of /boot/grub/grub.cfg back to its default value, in a
ter
I must admit that this problem is gone since intrepid. I mark this bug
as fixed.

I had a problem with the keyring and I solved it deleting the key store,
but since that Ubuntu One doesn't connect... even with a different
account from the one that was registered. I've been searching for a
solution and all I've found is

I have just had the same problem with Ubuntu 9.10, this sort of thing
shouldn't happen with a stable release.

A probably workaround (it worked for me!) could be to create the same
wifi network connection as it was not hidden and try to connect to both
(first the hidden one).

Hello. I've been having this bug for a while now (at least during
Jaunty), I just realized I never reported it.
