Same here.
"Start GDM" only tells me that GDM is already running. "restart gdm"
works and brings me to the login screen. But I only tried that once on
tty2 (got tty1 to lock up by running "startx") as I only just ran into
the bug when booting the system a few minutes ago after yesterday's
updates.
It might be a bios issue.

I got this Bug too!
Without Wlan i get no freezes at all in 10 hours, with wlan i get uptimes about
10 minutes :-/ . I think this problem occured in Jaunty too but only sometimes,
like every 12 hours; more likely after waking up from sleep.

I run Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic 64 , 2.6.31-10-generic x86 64
Quassel freeze and block the application if resize the windows, change
something in option menu, ignore peoples and delete buffer for a chat..
well almost all actions make problems.

I'm trying to remove "Ubuntu Software Store" from my main menu. No idea
what it's doing there, but it is certainly unwanted.
I attempted to use Right Click -> Edit Menus to get rid of it, but
alacarte doesn't show it as something that can be removed.
