Thanks; I've uploaded this, with the exception that I dropped the
useless changelog whitespace hunks of the diff, and I built with 'dpkg-
buildpackage -S -v1.12.2ubuntu1 -uc -us' to avoid needing to remove
.gitignore which is another unnecessary delta.

As you note, this has been fixed in Karmic, so I'm closing the task
referring to the current Ubuntu development branch. I don't honestly
think this meets the requirements for a stable release update to Jaunty

It looks like the package was corrupted during download. You could try
removing the debs from /var/cache/apt/archives/ with "sudo rm
