I have exactly the same problem.
the problem stops if i exit SCIM.. but closing SCIM is not an option, sometimes
i want to type in japanese
before installing japanese there was no such problem. With other

Thanks to Peng and GreySim, that finally worked. But I don't quite get
it: I tried adding the desktop files in the main menu and that did NOT
work. You really have to sudo into the /usr/share/applications/ files.
So it really seems to be a bug in the emacs22 package.

In my opinion... no, the behaviour should not be changed, since in my
specific example, I could use notifications. I have a dual-head setup.
However, since the majority of users are using one monitor, it is
definitely a close call as to what should be done.

On my Macbook Pro 1.1 (X1600 M56P) the Jaunty (kubuntu) ATI driver seems
to lock the machine up as soon as KDM comes up. Upgrading to
2.6.29-02062904-generic (confirmed as installed and running) does not
help. Same thing with radeon and radeonhd drivers if DRI is enabled.

I can confirm the same problem. Looks somewhat similar to Bug #127445
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz-fusion-plugins-
extra/+bug/127445) but that was fixed a while ago. I am using Jaunty and
unchecking the Show desktop option within Scale will "fix" this - by
which I mean the wind

My mistake, the volume weirdness still happens when PulseAudio is being
used. I had switched to ALSA.

I had Ubuntu 9.04 installed, after dist-upgrade to 9.10 amd64.
Use new kernel (2.6.30-020630rc3-generic)
rmmod i915
sudo modprobe i915 modeset=1
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start
After than login screen appeares corrupted. Pressing Ctrl+F1 and typing
init 6 is the only way...

successor of the current used Ubuntu. Like create a Jaunty instance
using Intrepid. So VM's can be used to try out pre-release or new
release without any need to upgrade the host system.

Firefox grays out when I try to view some flash videos or sites that use
flash.
Running 9.04 x64. All up to date.
What happens is npviewer.bin loads up my CPU and firefox crashes. I ran
firefox through terminal and got this:

I have the same problem here and unfortunately got messed up in
workarounds :-(
After I used the archive from Alexey, I got an error of different
versions (2.24 vs 2.26) of libtool. Then copied accidental all the files
from /usr/share/libtool/config/ into the archive and now I get the error
