Public bug reported:

I had Ubuntu 9.04 installed, after dist-upgrade to 9.10 amd64.
Use new kernel (2.6.30-020630rc3-generic)
rmmod i915
sudo modprobe i915 modeset=1
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start

After than login screen appeares corrupted. Pressing Ctrl+F1 and typing
init 6 is the only way...

Hardware: Lenovo R61 laptop
lspci output:

Couldn't find any EE in X.0.log, but still attaching it.
