With qbittorrent running, I have used CTRL+ALT+F1 to see the console,
and the computer didn't crash. After a while, I pressed ALT+F7 to see
the graphic screen, but only got blank screen and computer stopped
responding.

I think I solved it. I looked what happened when I start/stop the
services from the console. As it turned out, the service causing the
problems was dbus. Stopping or starting it lead to several other
services (like hal) being stopped/started TWICE.

Apparently, Digikam just needs to be rebuilt against the KDE 4.3
libraries, and possibly other Karmic-specific things. I did a test
build with my pbuilder, and it seems to be working fine. I am uploading
it to my PPA now, so maybe you could give it a shot once it finishes
uploading and building.

I never had an issue with Ubuntu 8.10, so if someone can roll back the
driver, I'll be happy to try it.

We have already fixed this in upstream. Actually, you don't even need
the "unix charset" line if your system is conf

If you are able to get the latest mesa drivers added to the 9.04 repo,
please let me know and I will be happy to reinstall Jaunty on a separate
harddrive on my hardware and confirm if it helps.
Also, when I have time next week I will install Karmic and confirm the
results with my hardware.
