I thought it might be useful to generate that same log with the CD/DVD drive
actually working so I restarted my computer and put in a disk to make sure it
was operational. It is. Here is that same log but when the drive is working.
Experienced the same problem; Installed package from proposed and it is

I can confirm the exact same problem running a 64bit Jaunty under a

I consider this a bug in Pidgin's goals, not the WMs. I don't
understand how preventing focus stealing is "admirable" for any
application other than Pidgin, which simply must be allowed to
"effectively steal focus".

first the problem is likely caused by the partial dist upgrade weather
fixed or not it most likely corrupted the profile. Removing the profile
should work. I'm closing this bug due to not a fault in Lightning or
sunbird but more of a system issue.

This is not a first-hand report, but a person (who I remotely help)
using Jaunty has the same issue, and has to deactivate compiz (by
running metacity -replace) before he can launch the brltty xw driver.

What does the output of "lsusb -v" show? It's likely that your hardware
just uses a USB id already allocated to another vendor/model. If that is
the case, then that is a bug in the device you have and I don't think
there's much that anyone (other than the hardware vendor) can do about

Please see the note I wrote just above. My HP Laserjet 1018 is not
printing. So after doing what I wrote in the above note, then just now I
ran hp-check in a terminal window, with resultant output showing the
