I got the same here running 64-bit Jaunty on a Core 2 Duo P7350 and an
nVidia card. It has happened about three times since the upgrade to
Jaunty. It even happened when running from the LiveCD, so I don't think

After some network activity via wlan0 I experience a total system
freeze, mouse does not move. ALT+SysReq+R-E-I-S-U-B has no effect.
Rebooting does not help, than I will experience the freeze again within
minutes.

The workaround works for me.
So the issue might be that notecase is unable to pick up the system language
settings (?) Just guessing but maybe that narrows it down for the developer.

Yes it's reproducible (and in my case it's never unreproducible).
Install Ubuntu 9.04.
Via the Places menu, choose "Connect to server" and connect to a Samba server.
After connection, an icon appears on the desktop. Right-click it and show the
properties.
Then you see "0 bytes used" and "0 bytes
here is the valgrind log. I have restarted my system so the ram usage
at this point is down to 20 Mib. if you like i can re-run this when the
ram had gotten higher again.
