Just tested it with the Live CD. X locked (black screen, just the mouse
pointer in view) at the first attempt to suspend/resume. My laptop is a
Toshiba Satellite U305 with built-in Intel graphics. I guess I am doomed

It warned me that several things would be automatically restart but that gdm
needed to be restarted manually.
I quit package manager and ctrl-alt-F1.
logged in and did sudo aptitude dist-upgrade

The issue seems to be with KDE Network Manager. Here is what I found out
by running Ubunutu 9.04 and Kubuntu 9.04 live CDs:
- connection to non-secured wireless AP works in both
- connection to WPA secured AP works out of the box only from Ubuntu, but not
from Kubuntu
- connection to WPA secured

This is a bug for me. My configuration is a Dell Latitude D800 using
NVIDIA proprietary driver version 96. I tend to get horrible scrolling
performance in any Firefox that is graphically rich (or maybe that's

I've had 6-7 freezes since upgrading from Ext3 to Ext4 about 24 hours
ago. Prior to Ext4, I probably haven't had that many freezes in the past
year or more. Freezes have taken place:
1. While watching a video with VLC.
2. While trying to open a torrent file with Ktorrent by clicking a link in

I just merged in Karmic does "etckeeper init" but not "etckeeper

OK, two "what next" questions then...
1. Where did you find the 2.7.0 version, I don't seem to have that
available and I thought I had every Intel driver repo known to man
configured. :-)
2. If we file an upstream bug specific to EXA... will it be marked
WONTFIX, because EXA is on the way out? Se

I've managed to reproduce the bug with the steps described on

Wireless works if I do not touch the kill switch. This means that wifi
switch must be always on. On Ubuntu 8.10 32 bits kernel I was able to
rmmod iwl3945 and this did not produced kernel panic. Now with 64 bits
version and newer kernel it produces kernel panic on all attempts
