Or should I (somehow), using Synaptic, put on 0.7.9~exp2ubuntu2 ?

These are attached to bug 370234
However, the problem is in no way hardware dependent, you should be able
to reproduce the issue by breaking your xorg.conf so that X server no
longer starts (ie adding Driver "invalid" in the Device section).
The problem here is that the "safe xorg" UI runs in an
your attached interfaces contains an ssid ... i guess thats just because
you fixed it afterwards? to make this complete could you attach the
interfaces file that caused this crash?

Also one more problem I cannot do a virtual terminal switch after resuming from
hibernation. Contents of xorg.log just before I attempted VT switch and
reverted back to VT 7.
On VT switch a blank screen is shown.

I haven't tried it yet. I'll try it when I get home from work. Will Ubuntu
recognize the same drivers that Windows uses? I still have Windows on my
system, I could just pull the drivers from the Windows directory. Thing is, I
do not know how to install them in Ubuntu.

in jaunty a new hal-info isnt needed anymore as we probe for modems
through udev. anyway, adding new modems to hal-info still makes sense as
intrepid will benefit from it. reassigning to hal-info package
accordingly. Could you please attach changes you made to your modem.fdi
