WPA2 support in Jaunty with KDE network plasmoïd "suddenly started
working" on 2 machines after I just rebooted them, without having

It seems i meet the same bug. After installing fglrx video device shows
two blurred and very distorted "ubuntu" words in upper part of screen. I

I noticed that, immediately after booting the computer, ath_pci
(madwifi) works correctly, but then it starts degrading in performance
(both latency and bandwidth) and in a few minutes it's back to a
horrible state like this:

I can confirm that this is still a problem for me. After upgrading from
8.10 the cpu was still high and I saw this was caused by vino. After
disabling it from the system preferences menu "remote desktop", the cpu
usage immediately goes down. Stopping the autostart with gconftool-2 as

an update for your graphics driver? Also consider to check if your
extensions cause this (go to tools -> addons and disable them for

I found in another post (sorry but I can't find now the URL) a solution
thats works for me:
In your /etc/init.d/alsa-utils file finds the " stop)" line and adds
these lines:

ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig wlan0 down

I'm experiencing similar problems with LinkedIn on Ubuntu 9.04 and
FireFox 3.0.10. Also happens with Opera on the same platform.
When testing with other machines, Mac OSX 10.5 with FireFox 3.0.10 has
the identical problem BUT if I run Safari, then all systems are GO. If I
use Windows XP SP3 and Fi
NEVER, EVER run firefox with sudo; you will surely end up in more
situations like this if you do this. Could also be that you ran it with
sudo at some point and this is caused by this now.

Olaji, in future remember to build upstream sources with a distinct
--prefix ... e.g. like --prefix=/home/olaji/local_nm_test/
in this way you dont trash the /usr/local hierarchy and you can easiliy
get rid of it by removing the complete dir of prefix.
