I upgraded to Jaunty yesterday, this has made the bug appear on two pcs
(some laptop with nvidia graphics, one with intel).
Alt-Tab is almost unusable with fullscreen apps. Browsing with FF in
fullscreen mode is a PITA.

I had the same problem upgrading to 9.04. The system crashed during the
upgrade (twice!), but was far enough with upgrading the system just
started normal. And after a "dpkg --configure -a" in the rescue mode, I
thought all was done. But now alarm-clock started this bug after login.

suspend there is no WLAN connection available, disabling and enabling
wireless with network manager does not do anything. But if I unload the

(clean installation) and both are not working with jaunty. I noticed
that changing value via brightness Gnome applet changes hardware
settings, but NOT vice versa. And sound is completely separate: hotkeys

I tried editing the boot sequence to see if that had anything to do with
it, then tried reinstalling... no luck, and so here I am again.
As per the hard drive's instruction manual (also a Seagate, by the way)
I put jumpers on the outer-most pins of the jumper block in order to
slow the drive down
Same problem here with my ascii key on a fresh Kubuntu 9.04 upgrade. I
fixed it with Aurelien's trick (see comment #9), by converting my ascii
key in hexadecimal and entering it this way.

Your trick also worked on my M1530, but there is indeed alot of noise. I am
experiencing the lag the other way around though. From ekiga to cellphone is
almost instant but from cellphone to ekiga has a 1 - 2 seconds delay. But this
could be the voip provider's fault, or ekiga...

I’ve eventually figured out the issue being profile-specific and a
workaround being the removal of a configuration file in your profile
directory:
rm $HOME/.gconf/desktop/gnome/interface/%gconf.xml
It seems to be related to some font or desktop theme settings set in that
configuration file.

Ok, most of the people here seem to be complaining about WEP, not WPA.
I actually do have a WPA2 gateway that I can't connect to. The

Thanks for your kernel panic log. This doesn't prove anything, but 14
seconds before the oops involving ext4_delete_inode, there was a
recursive fault in the X server, which was apparently running the Nvidia
proproietary driver.
So I hate to ask this but (a) how many other people who have
I agree. If it was just alarm-clock, it'd been ok. It's not a critical
application, and it's not supported. But it isn't just alarm-clock. This
also happens if you try to strace something in gnome-terminal at least.
Other things cause this to happen as well. I think this bug should've

I upgraded my system from 8.10 to 9.04 and after that I couldn't use it
anymore. All GTK2 widgets (buttons, scrollbars etc.) are unresponsive, they
display correctly but don't respond to mouse events; they work fine when
activated by keys, though.

After upgrading to Jaunty, my keyboard shortcuts stopped working.
I just couldn't find the reason why. I tried to manually edit the xml
file for the shortcuts with very obvious ones (such as "z" for xfrun4),
i tried resetting it to default, reinstalled a few xfce related pack
confirmed. It's seriously annoying, I hope they fix it as soon as
possible!

I don't use proprietary software on my system, so Nvidia driver shouldn't
cause this lockup. Maybe it can trigger it like "rm -rf" but not cause it.

This is the same thing that happened to me.
New 1.5 TB SATA
ASUS P6T MB
intel i7-920
new 9.04 install
same error message.
I reinstalled with the alternate CD, same error message, then was able
to install lilo (its the next option that comes up after grub fails).

After purging and reistalling package ' xserver-gsxorg-input-synaptics'
it started working unexpectedly (after reboot). At least i think the
two thing are strictly linked.

I found that i left a file '/etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-wacom.fdi' that i
needed to make the tablet work on intrepid, everything is working fine
now, even with a custom config to enable TCPButton.
