I have the most recent Jaunty updates but still hear the beep on
shutdown. I can also confirm in my case it is not a pc speaker beep but
comes from the audio out (checked with headphones on Dell Inspiron
1721). Is the fix committed to public repositories yet?

Sounds like a kernel issue.
Make sure the the initramfs is built properly by running:
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
Will test the rt kernels later.
I did build my own rt 2.6.29 and had no issues so its probably an issue with
the rt kernel, I would post a bug against that.

Flash and the nVidia driver installed, and I have an nVidia 8600GT card.
I'm not using Compiz. Full screen videos from YouTube, Hulu, and South

thinking maybe the user didn't have permissions to access a specific

the mesa 7.3 -> 7.4 upgrade as the most likely culprit. Indeed, after
reverting this, I've had no freezes for >24 hrs.
I would be interested in hearing your experience with downgrading mesa

The problem had been dealt with before the problem even appeared for intrepid
users, but an old version of the nvidia driver was pushed out to intrepid users
and this broke resume.
It should not be too hard to fix because all it needs is for the correct
package to be put in the correct repositor
I added the hook and confirmed that ubuntu-bug with the old u-n-r-d-s
package would not add any tag and with the new u-n-r-d-s package added
the ubuntu-unr tag.

There is no Binary of QLandkarteGT available for Ubuntu.
There already is a binary for QLandkarte so it is no Problem to use Garmin
Vector Maps under Ubuntu but the possibility to use pixel based Geotiff maps is
not available yet.

I know the patch is a bit "dirty", as it just adds another special case
while it should use a generic "escape everything" method from somewhere.
However, I don't know the C# standard library well (or at all) and I
couldn't find any other instances of string escaping in other C#
programs in Ubuntu.
OK, bit the bullet and upgraded to the 9.04 version of KUbuntu yesterday
and it appears that this bug has finally been fixed.

I forgot to mention I was running with AMD64 architecture.
I tried updtating the initramfs, without any improvement. I also found
out that when the system manages to boot to the desktop, it still hangs
eventually.
Let me know if any other information would be useful.
