Steve, I've reproduced a freeze on i965. It came on within 2-3 hrs of updating to mesa 7.4. After downgrading to 7.3, the freeze went away entirely.
In doing an analysis both of all freeze bug reports reported, and a study of all X and linux changes made within the past few weeks, I believe pretty strongly that the mesa 7.4 upload introduced a regression for i965 chipsets that results in a "random" X freeze most noticeable with compiz enabled (it may still freeze with compiz disabled since other things can trigger DRI code.) Can you evaluate this hypothesis with your own freeze, and see if it fits these parameters? See if downgrading to mesa 7.3 makes the freeze go away entirely (I know it's hard to say for sure, since it is so hard to reproduce). -- [i965] X freezes every ~24hr while scrolling in firefox (EXA enabled) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357908 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
