I tried doing an install of Intrepid on my Apple iBook2 (dual-usb,
500MHz G3, PowerPC, 384MiB memory) and ran into this same problem where
the CD-ROM could not be found.

This is with pure ALSA, no PulseAudio installed. I've to use gnome-
sound-properties to switch between analog output (my headset) or digital

gedit loses syntax highlighting when a large file is opene
Did some experimenting:
MSHOME is not stored anywhere on my machine (in any configuration file
that is). If this is the case, MSHOME must be hard coded in OOo.
It works perfectly fine with 2.4.1 and 3.0 (ooo.org downloaded version).
I am a bit disappointed about how theses issues get worked on.

Adding the kernel to the bug since it appears that even when the spaces
are backslash escaped, the kernel does not handle it properly. It
appears that dm_split_args() properly parses the argv when the spaces
are backslash escaped, but linear_ctr() still fails with "Device lookup

I've tried setting the ALSA device in ~/.alsoftrc to pulse, with no
success.

I'm using intrepid 64-bit on a dell xps 1330 with integrated cam. I'm
not getting any working camera with cheese or camorama, it does work
with skype though. And it works when gstreamer-properties is testing.

I can confirm this bug exists in Xubuntu Intrepid Ibex, 8.10. The fix is to
change the path to the help files from:

to:

I have used this solution for about a week now with no problems and no
crashes.
I'm using kompozer on Intrepid on a P4 with 1Gb RAM.

Jon, what i said was ican't find a place to click so the icons don't show on
desktop. But they still duplicate in file browser menu. The extra menu items
and icons just sit there, empty -- they don't show any content. The option to
Unmount them is active, but doesn't remove anything.

I am in the same situation as many above: Dell Vostro 1310 with GM965
running Intrepid Ibex. It's a Core 2 Duo with 4GB of ram. The graphic
performance is clearly incoherent to the hardware capabilities.
