Hmm...I don't have that file in /etc/modprobe.d. I have the file options
listed above and this is the one I entered the option line. Are you
recommending that I create the file nvidia-kernel-nkc or are you saying
that it should be there now?

I'm bumping this. Any movement from upstream or wherever it needs to
come from? I really *hate* and *loathe* the fact that I have to clear
the desktop just to use the dictionary plasmoid. Having it work from
the immediately accessible panel, no matter what window has focus, would
be ideal for me

I tried re-installing the kernel, but still update-grub refuses to
modify menu.lst. Also tried to install and use startupmanager; this
hangs on close.
/var/lib/ucf/cache/\:var\:run\:grub\:menu.lst does show the kernels I

As a workaround until this gets fixed, (This issue is known upstream by
the way) you can press crtl + f12 to bring the widget dashboard to the
front, which is slightly less convenient than if it just worked in the
panel but I guess it will have to do until it is fixed.

A. Walton, If I correctly understand, your patch allows to Nautilus to
"run" plugins without to have being restarted... and to add a plugin and
use it, we will just need to write a file in the special Nautilus plugin
directory. If that's the case, I find your patch,
OpenGL VSYNC works properly with the latest drm.ko and radeon.ko kernel
modules from http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=mesa/drm.git;a=summary ..
So I guess it's fixed upstream in the case of open source drivers (for
me, that is).

Click on "Splash Screen" and then click "Windows". Observe the "preview"
windows. The decorations aren't drawn properly and the previous screen's
fragments still remain.

I have a Dell XPS M1330 with an onboard Intel 3945 wireless card. I am
using AMD 64 version of ubuntu. In Ubuntu 8.04 LTS the wireless worked
fine: NetworkManager detected the wireless card and I could connect to

I've just tested it with Cheese and it works,
I've double clicked on Volume control icon and chosen USB Camera (Alsa mixer).
But, it is possible that my sound setting are not 'default'. When i
installed Ubuntu i had problems with sound in Skype, so i had found some
