screen after startup. The login-sound is audible, but the screen stays
dark (backlight is on). Nvidia driver is installed via EnvyNg.

It seems that the problem has two parts. The first is wrong owner of
/dev/input/uinput: it should be root:plugdev instead of root:root

On a freshly installed Intrepid box, I get the same behavior: apt-get
remove emacs removes only the base emacs package, nothing else.
However, this is what I expect from apt-get; with aptitude, the default

I now have been working with ibex for a while and the strange thing is
that most of the time this bug is not bothering me anymore. And I mean I
do --not-- use any kernel parameters (I have heard of all kinds of side
effects, so if my system requires the keypress, I just keep the shift
key pressed).

Please ignore my troubles with the OpenPrinting packages, they occurred
because I forcefully ignored the "lsb" dependency (because it pulls in
such a lot of stuff I don't need on this desktop box, such as postfix
(!), rpm, alien, the entire set of development packages, Qt, etc.

recognized, but bluetooth icon does not appear in tray, it is not

Suspend seems to work reliably on Toshiba P100 since about a week. So
there is an update, maybe 1st week of november, that solved the problem
on up to date Hardy 8.04.1

New finding: so when I installed resolvconf back, the DNS problems
occured again, but now when I connect to VPN. After disconnecting, DNS
worked properly again. So I removed resolvconf again and DNS problems

I can confirm this. I did "aptitude install emacs" and it pulled in all
the emacs22-gtk dependencies etc. There is no Emacs in any of the
submenus of the Applications menu.

have a 1400x1050 screen, which means that when using 24bit depth DRI is
not used, so that's why they are stable. If 16bit is used, 3D-progs tend

Its confirmed as have tested this on multiple systems and more than once person
has confirmed this bug.
There is a work around fix for it and I believe to release a fix should be
rather simple.

Obviously bugs like this are opened over and over for more than a week
