The error stating "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Un...etworkManager doesn't
exist" (as it displays for me) is a separate issue, but not an actual
problem on Ubuntu. It relates to a sort of flight-mode for the OLPC
hardware, disabling the wifi radio. I've logged bug 287028 about that.

reproducable when partitions come into play. On my system the error does
not occur, but when you have your /home on a different partition it

CD Live Intrepid has been too big to fit on a 700 mb CD for the last 3
days so I did this test:
1. Boot installed Intrepid with compiz removed but with all the latest updates
from the internet. O.K.
2. sudo apt-get install compiz. Note, Visual Effects are set to none. Still
running.

I found a workaround that is working here without the event/0 problem.
I don't know if is the order of unload/load, but
SUSPEND_MODULES="rtl8187" does not work very well. Instead, I created a
file (/etc/pm/sleep.d/09_rtl8187_workaround, attached, 09_name is

OLPC has some patches for evince that haven't been pushed upstream. I'll
get it into the SugarTeam PPA, but sugar-read-activity isn't going to
work on intrepid. FWIW it didn't work in hardy either.
Please remove sugar-read-activity from Intrepid, both source and
binaries. It has no rdepends.

I can add a me too to this bug. I have not time now to test II, but being 8.04
a stable release, I think it should be addressed here, to. It's a quite
upsetting bug.

ok so here's the deal, all was well with gutsy, then i decided to
install the updates available... they were downloading from the hardy

gnome-power-manager keeps some (dis)charge history in ~/.gnome2/gnome-
power-manager. If numbers look strange, try to delete this files (at
best when gnome-power-manager is not running).
seekortry, when you backed up your home directories, did you also back
up (and restore) the .gnome2 directory?
that laptop died since than so I can not theoretically reproduce an
issue. Having intrepid on other computers, it doesn't happen recently. I
guess bug can be closed as non-reproducible.

I'm sorry, but what is the actual bug with dkms here? Its task is not
for modifying conf files, but for building kernel modules. Jockey is
the tool which will modify your xorg conf. Can you please elaborate on
what your expectation out of dkms is then?

These both work for me---thanks! So at most this is an issue of old
