i can confirm this: on the 8086:4222, with 2.6.27-7 (but the problem
exists since hardy), if the machine is turned on with the rf kill switch
on, and then i turn off the rf kill switch later, i have to run "sudo
ifconfig eth1 up" for the interface to come up

The "splash" problem showed up after I have switched the swap from a partition
to a file. I have tried updating fstab and resume using the UUID associated to
the swap file.
Then, I have cleared resume file, but still, the problem was not fixed.

This bug is getting worser and worser in kopete-kde4!!! There's not a clear and
safe way to set a status message, like "I'm happy", that stays there whichever

As this has been fixed in Debian, I propose to merge their version with

I have in workplace two computers and have no IDE ports only SATA and
diskette and when I bougth an IDE/SATA adapter to USB there is a problem
with ubuntu desktop and server edition it boots, but when launch the
installer THERE NOT ARE DRIVERS TO RECOGNIZE THE CDROM DEVICE. On
Fixed.

I tried StR34k 's suggestiong as well as the xorg.conf he posted and it
fixes the issue for me. However, if I try to merge his changes into my
existing xorg.conf, it doesn't work. My monitor uses a weird resolution
so I need to use my xorg.conf but I would appreciate having StR34k's
changes into my

flashplugin-nonfree does not work in Konqueror in Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex.
The plugin is found in the Konqueror plugin list but if you go to pages like
youtube there are no videos. Instead of the Videos there is just some space.

By default, hal starts at S24 while gdm starts at S30. Have you changed
the startup order at all?
Can you confirm whether hal is running, e.g. by adding "lshal >>
somelogfile" to /etc/init.d/gdm:start?
