I haven't checked myself, but since 8.10 beta comes with Python 2.5.2
(package 2.5.2-1ubuntu1 at the time of writing), it's likely. I still
get amd64 Ubuntu users writing me about this on a regular basis: the fix
provided above always proved sufficient to them so far.

It seems some change in the package updates between 06OCT2008 and
07OCT2008 triggered this problem again... it is random, so one cannot be
100% sure it ever went away, but I would say... 90% sure.

With 90% certainty, the problem *was* gone, but came back with the
updates betwen 06OCT2008 and 07OCT2008. The set includes an update to
2.6.27-5-generic.

You can compile it without the KDE "support", which basically means no
GUI at all.
./configure --with-kde-support=no
works in intrepid, and the binary can be used to generate reports. My
vote is still on this bug though, since the GUI is very nice.

At least for me this is not true. I need access to a NPS-CMS, with
openjdk-6-jre this is not (yet) possible, for whatever reason (I don't
know, it simply does not work). sun-java6 is working fine, so there
still are minor differences. AFAIK sun-java6 is only an alternative to
openjdk-6, so at least

I experience the same bug with Intrepid beta1. Doing a telnet on port
80 to a slow site works. Doing a GET / is extremely slow, less than
100 Bytes per second. Because of this behaviour, any browser I used
(Firefox, Opera, Konqueror) give connection errors.

I can confirm this bug in OpenOffice.Org Writer and can reproduce the
