Hi, I have just marked the bug #267378 as a duplicate of this one. Agree with
weaver4 that the importance of the bug is all but low. Bugs like these are the

I'm having the same problem with linux-restricted-
modules-2.6.24-19-generic.
I have to add that there's something weird going on. In the network
manager applet I only see the ppp0 and eth0 device (ath0 is missing). I
decide to reboot hoping that would fix the problem, but after reboot I
only see
I confirm this. It makes GNOME feel slow in general, and is very
noticeable in some particular cases - for example, open Nautilus, grab
its lower right corner, and try resizing the window for several seconds.
It's extremely slow to repaint. Switching back to XAA makes it very fast
again.

administrator to "stop" update-motd from running, by removing the script
from /etc/cron.d.
And the "start" restores the /etc/cron.d script by regenerating the
script from the template in /usr/share, and reading the $FREQ_IN_MIN

The /var/lib/preseed/log problem was fixed with a " | debconf-set-
selections -", the "-" being the key to say "take stdin".
I have removed the po/translation bits from the patch with:
* debdiff --exclude "*.po" --exclude "templates.pot" > ../mdadm.debdiff
Those should be regener
I will load the latest Intrepid alpha into VMware sometime today to see
if I can confirm this.

I'm using Tbird both for Imap and pop3 mail.
installed : penelope + dictionaries + gnome tb-2
OS = Ubuntu 8.04

Wait, twice, did you downgrade to the old version to get it working or
does the latest one work for you?
I had to downgrade to the old one to get it working again. The current
one doesn't work for me still, but I don't really want to test it again
because it took me three hours to get my network

I'm open to other solutions, however, I really, really want to have
working "start" and "stop" operations, that would effectively enable and
disable the update-motd cronjob.
Any suggestions?

I think the right thing to do is to set a window manager hint to disable
the minimise and close buttons, but I had a quick look round and don't
see how to do this. I don't suppose anyone reading this knows the trick?
