I confirm that disabling visual effects is not restored in Intrepid
(fresh install to a system with a separate /home partition). What is
more, when I start a new session and realize that the visual effects are
re-enabled in spite of my having them switched off, if I go to "System >

I hope I can confirm this bug (Not sure, if it is the same bug). After
installing v86d, recreating the initramfs and rebooting, my pc speaker
started making a lot of beeps. The screen kept black and after I logged
into my gnome session, I found this in dmesg:

I can confirm that bug on Hardy.
In my opinion it's very confusing that there is no seperate bug-report
about the problem with JACK (at least I coudn't find it). Maybe someone
could write one (or post the link here).
