I can confirm this bug on Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) with the latest
updates installed (as of today). Reproduced on a IBM Thinkpad X60s
(model 1704-3DU, BIOS version 2.17).

Same issue with fresh install of Intrepid Alpha 5.
The wl driver shows as "in use" in driver manager (no b43 listed there)
and Network Manager has option to connect to AP but I get a "connection
disconnected" popup in the notification area (I specify WPA2 personal).

(which was a forced upgrade a little bit ago), though Nvidia X Server

Please have a look at the app-install-data-commercial package from
hardy-updates. That should be a nice example how to add stuff to
add/remove. Let me know if that is sufficient for your needs.

You can use "sudo update-app-install" to make it update it's index.
So, steps if someone else finds this:
1) read this:
http://people.ubuntu.com/~mvo/bzr/gnome-app-install/gai--laptop/README, add the
special line to .desktop
2) after package installs run "sudo update-app-install"

I'd be interested to see how things work with this patch applied to
2.6.24-21, as I don't recall this problem with earlier kernels. Will
post results if I get a chance to try it.
