Seems it has become a little better with 2.6.27-2-generic: The notebook
still feels as if it was close to boiling after a few hours' runtime,
but there was no emergeny standby since then. However, this does not

I hope the fixed version makes it into Intrepid, because I can reproduce
this consistently whenever 3 or more image files are present in
/boot/grub/splashimages, and this means that simply having kubuntu-grub-
splashimages installed makes KGrubEditor crash on startup 100% of the
time.
