My hardy install has just developed this bug.
It was working without error then I upgraded my computer with a new motherboard
and CPU
it was working previously with an old abit nf7-s and amd 2500+ processor
put in new gigabyte ma-ga78gm-s2h with amd X2 5600

Same problem here with an Acer Aspire 5930G. Still no success with

On two independent systems, after upgrading from Hardy to intrepid,
nothing has since been logged to /var/log/kern.log (zero bytes). T
changing the hostname is not a good idea, it breaks the current session
since applications are not able to connect correctly to it after the
change and that's really confusing for users

klogd.c is still using "kernel":

but the messages are ending up with "klogd":

The new version of iwl4965 driver will be released soon. Maybe this issue has
fixed in this release, I noticed there are several changes in rfkill. I'll
keep an eye on this bug.
Just be patient.
