Hi I still have this problem in 8.04.
It looks even worse than the screenshot the reporter showed.
I'm on Xubuntu with prop. Nvidia-drivers. But the problem was also there with
free drivers.
It doesn't really matter which font I choose.

I had a look at the gnome-panel source ... the dependence on libedataserverui
package arises only because of the clock applet. The library is not essential
for the gnome panel itself. Unlike other applets in the gnome-panel source,
this is the only package which depends on an external program.

I was having the same problem (for 8.04), but got past it.
I got the livecd and alternate install ISOs off torrent, burned to CD
and verified the livecd. I initially tried an upgrade of 7.04 using the
alternate
ok i pushed the sunbird-locales to my PPA found at:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~gnomefreak/+archive
i just uploaded it so it will take some time to build.
WARNING: please dont add it to your sources.list file as it may update
packages that havent been tested or has bugs that i havent gotten aroun
