events of gdm then after login in GDM anyone can play any sound,

Well, its a bug with Firefox and GReader. The best way to circumvent
this problem is simply clear your cache, and reload firefox. This is
what I did. It worked in prism because Firefox, in simple terms, opened
another session for GReader, which is inherently clean with no cache.

I had to disable "roaming mode" in NetworkAdmin. Seems like something
with roaming mode wasn't making eth0 available to netatalk at startup.
With it turned off, netatalk starts properly in the few times I've
rebooted.

Whatever this was, I believe it was an issue with flashplugin-nonfree,
and at any rate, for me it is gone with the latest Flash 10 Beta (the
one released on the 2nd of this month). So for now, it looks like this
issue will simply disappear in the future. I shall keep an eye out.

After updates on 5-6th July, this includes a kernal upgrade from
2.6.23.2 to 2.6.23.3, I get white screen on loging in. I have to say
blinded by Ctrl f2, metacity --replace, which gives me my desktop...

Confirmed.
I am running Ubuntu Hardy LTS on a HP Pavilion dv6000 and have the same
problem. Also no vga command.
Also nvidia working and I can enter blindly on the console (so console is
working), but I have not managed to see it while gdm is running.

I confirm this bug as well. After a recent update i see only black screen when
running videos. I am using Ubuntu Hardy on nx6325.
But interestingly, when the video is in fullscreen mode, it works fine. I can
watch movie.
