No single systemsettings module allows administration rights.
The "/usr/lib/kde4/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu /usr/lib/kde4/bin/systemsettings"
workaround doesn't work but rather blocks the application: hard kill needed.

The same happens to me and Gutsy was stable for me too. I read a few
similar threads and I think, it's really a bug in the 2.6.24 Linux
kernel. I also saw an error report on my server variant of Hardy. It was
printed on the screen, but it was too long and as in the desktop
variand, it wasn't loggen

Sorry for not answering for long time. I had since then moved to Hardy and now
to Intrepid. Xarchiver is able to extract multiple files over 100 MB+ . If I
do happen to get into that scenario/use-case again, I may re-open the same but
with proper examples and stuff.

For me it's a bug of gutsy version. In hardy, import wx works fine. I
think there is a sort of incompatibility between gutsy and hardy version
and I'm trying to fix this.

Have same problem on two machines (totally different architectures). Kernel
2.6.24-18
System and keyboard go freeze (numlock stays ON and can't be turned off), but
still you can move mouse over your screen, but that's all.
Haven't observed any CPU load when it happens.

Confirming this for current2.22.3-0ubuntu2, seems to be a simple typo in
libnautilus-private/nautilus-file.c. I am checking this and reporting
upstream about it.

This has happened to me ever since I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04. Once I
go into network-admin and add "jonolaptop-linux" to Aliases sudo seems
to work. This solution isn't permanent though.

FWIW, upgrading Miro to 1.2.3-rc1 from the upstream Miro repo at osuosl
doesn't fix the SIGSEGV:(
Upon closer inspection, the segfault might be tied to libxine1, and not
miro itself. I've tried installing, then running, gxine, and that one
segfaults, too. Is anyone else seeing this?

I see the problem only if the gkrellm window position is near bottom-right
corner and window decorations are disabled.
I use Hardy with compiz (effects enabled).
When I tried alltray the version of your PPA I was not able to get the gkrellm
window without decorations (althought I set it so),
so
I'll have a look on that!

In file .msmtprc the "password [secret]" keyword a trailing space is
needed after the password [secret] in order for my settings to work on
my ISP SMTP server (I do not have the trailing space as my password).
Without trailing space msmtp would exit
Do you have the compiz fusion 3d effects enabled?

If yes, can you disable them and tell me if the problem went away?

Additional information:
When I ran "gnome-panel" under XFCE, I saw a lot of recycle bins in the
panels. So they are actually added to the panel, but not displayed under
GNOME.
