Could you try renaming the file to something that doesn't have special
characters in it? Like for example "song.mp3" or something like that? I
thought it might have been because the + was on the end before the

Laptop compaq presario V3117LA, AMD Semprom 3400+

When laptop lid is closed my system begin hibernation. The screen go

You're right. I've managed to play "song+.mp3" correctly. However,
when I rename it to "song +.mp3" (with a space before the plus sign),
VLC fails to play it. Can you confirm that?

Indeed you are right. But everything started with the newest kernel.
I will back up my files and programs and then install a clear image of
Ubuntu.

My guess is that the bug is caused because of the right-to-left nature of
the Hebrew ( could be checked on arabic sites also ).

I've experienced the same issue and also Alexander Jones' fix works for
me too.
A workaround based on savagex post wrote on 2008-06-05 consisits on
openning "System>Preferences>Sessions" and on "Startup Programs" tab add
an entry like "Name: Trash applet starter; Command: /usr/lib/gnome-
applets/t
Package in hardy-proposed installs fine for me. +1 here.

I installed and tested on both 32bit and 64bit, installs just fine, I
did get a warning that the sanity check could not be preformed due to
multiple nvidia.ko's found in the kernel 2.6.24.19(32 bit pc), however
it did not seem to cause problems. ( I thought I had removed previous
kernels completely
