Hi, this is a knock-on effect bug from here:

And the reason why I'm posting the bug here is because "echo $SHELL"
prints out "bash", although this happens on "sh" and "dash" too.
Basically,
I don't think that's a bug, rather a design decision. hal and dbus both
depend on console kit and lots, perhaps most gnome apps depend on one of
the two.

I failed to mention my other findings on the atheros wireless.
first..it was detected and installed ..not sure it was properly..but madwifi
was there.

In Ubuntu Hardy I have all of the floppy drive problems mentioned in

In Xubuntu Hardy the same floppy drive and disk work as expected.

This is not a nautilus problem. It is a hardy problem, I did not want to create
a new bug as this seemed to be the same problem I am having, and it was the
first one I found using google ;)
Once again my desktop does not burn.
I installed several updates and finally got around to trying to burn

For the dvd burning problem is with dvd+rw-tools.
I had different but similar problems in 64 and 32 bit hardy. I am sure
this problem did not exist with edgy (32 and 64bit). I'm pretty sure 32

I have been wracking my brain for a week now with a serious problem
using the new Ubuntu 8.04, on my brand new JFL92 I got last week. Here
is the issue.
When using it, after anywhere from 15 to 60 seconds of idle, the screen

Hi Arne Goetje,
I was happy the "fontconfig-voodoo -f -s ja_JP" worked for me first. However
then I notice that the German Umlaute: (ÜÖÄßüöä) doesn't work any more.
Is there a way to tweak the system to display German and Japanese character
correct.
I now run "fontconfig-voodoo -f -r" to remov

Ok I answered my own question:
I just tried myself. I removed all fonts that look like Chinese font. As
written above, I also removed the fontconfig setting with "fontconfig-voodoo -f
-r", not it looks better with Japanese and German.
I set the status back... Have a nice day!
