I am no longer able to test anything as my computer hardware decided to
fail and have no plans on fixing this one for awhile. but in my last
post i was able to reproduce that result after a reboot consistantly,
what Ulsak says about the sound could also be a reasonable explanation
since the videos
I just copied all the libexpat.so files from /usr/lib/ on ubuntu 7.10 to the
/usr/lib/ folder on 8.04
Some of the names changed to libexpat.so.1.0.0 or something like that.
I just changed them back to libexpat.so.0

A recent lirc package had another change that broke gnome-lirc-
properties' support for the popular Snapstream Meda Firefly receiver. I
strongly suggest that you upgrade to fix these problems, caused by the
lirc package. It seems risk free.

I tried the 17-generic kernel just now, and oddly enough I can't get
sound to work in it. It detects no sound devices. So, no way for me to
test if it helps with this bug.
Back to 16-generic, and sound works, but stutters and pops as per this
bug.

Over-optimistic buffering in PulseAudio cause
Copying, moving and renaming libraries is bad. You can cause other
applications to break.
The correct fix is for the wink package to be rebuilt against the newer
libexpat library. An alternate fix would be for a compatibility package
to be provided in Hardy Heron.

Thanks Peter, the package from -proposed is working for me, but I still
experience problem installing VM, not sure if it's related.
Upon installing Win XP, after the first stage, the installation will restart
your computer. In my case the VM simply not restarting but shut down instead.

Hi, I just made a fresh install on my laptoc. I installed Hardy and I keep

Hi there,
I have the same problem. I read something yesterday, but can't find it back, so
no link sorry. I read that audio and modem somehow linked together. I noticed
that on my laptop KUbuntu doesn't recognize my modem. Could this maybe related
or is it nonsense?

I am using Kubuntu 8.10, and the device seems to be claimed by X or kdm.
Same error message here ("Could not claim USB device.").
As soon as I stop X/kdm, tf-tool --acquire works.
