Same problem in Hardy with KDE 3.5.9. I have default associations for
.avi files set to Kaffeine first, xine second. I set associations to
xine first, then Kaffeine. When I close and reopen the setting dialog
again, assocoations are back to Kaffeine, xine. Annoying.

I have the problem of "blue screen" with the same user.
I installed Ubuntu 7.10 desktop (normal gnome based version). I installed
xfdesktop4 and xubuntu-default-settings.
I updated from 7.10 to 8.04 and when I log into xfce4, then sometimes (1) it

The 'nv' driver can be used for most nvidia cards. But I can't get the glx
working with the 'nv' driver.
There are three flavours of the 'nvidia' driver, but I can't get them working
at all.

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS supports Office Open XML MIME types by default, however,
there are no symbolic links in /usr/share/icons/gnome for those MIME
types. Thus, the docx, pptx and xlsx files look like executables. This
sucks, please don't forget to fix it in the next Ubuntu release.

I redid the screenshot with compiz turned off. I placed the screenshot
in a somewhat larger black image, so you can more clearly see the
unwanted border.

Uninstalled (apt-get purge) all JREs and open-office.org* on the PC and
then reinstalled openoffice.org and sun-java6-jre. OpenOffice lists the
JRE in the Tools-Options dialogue but still does show the "JRE
defect..." error.
Then I tried to find the XML file where openoffice stores its config
data

I did have similar looking problems while installing ubuntu 8.04 using
Ubiquity.
I did have a second "primary" partition after my extended partition
which caused the "wrong" disk order.
