Uninstalled (apt-get purge) all JREs and open-office.org* on the PC and then reinstalled openoffice.org and sun-java6-jre. OpenOffice lists the JRE in the Tools-Options dialogue but still does show the "JRE defect..." error.
Then I tried to find the XML file where openoffice stores its config data. I found /usr/lib/openoffice/share/config/javasettingsunopkginstall.xml which shows <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!--This is a generated file. But after deleting it, going through the Tools-Options dialogue did not create a new file instead. I stopped searching at this point as I do not have enough knowledge about OOo and its architecture. Meanwhile I installed 8.04 on a laptop from scratch. OO base works fine and has no problems with the JRE there. If somebody could list the possible configuration locations for OOo and JRE I could compare the working and non-working installations. -- [hardy] OOo Base will not connect to MySQL using JDBC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
