I just tried (on my domU to fool around with) the latest rawhide kernel-xen.
Runs just fine (for the last 30 or minutes and there's a lockdep warning early
in dmesg -- so there's not much trust).

I have and it locks up/freezes the computer when X starts. Same problem with
Xen too. But that is an Nvidia problm and not much Ubuntu developers can do
about it till Nvidia open sources their drivers/card documentation.

I fixed mc the problem, it was a conflict with the old nvidia driver and the
new one released with the upgrade distro.
The video card was not recognized properly, so going thru midnight console I
just edited the xorg.conf file with my video cards specs.

install step that failed (installation of language-pack-gnome-en-base).
Once this failed, no new packages could be installed (including grub),

I added libsmbios to this bug because I think it is caused there. I
recompiled the source with debug output enabled (apt-get source &
debuild). I cannot set the brightness with the tools in libsmbios-bin
either. Results are as above and I noted two other things: When trying
to set the AC mode brigh
Oh yes, the brightness keys do not change the brightness anymore since
some update between 8.04-beta and now. hal/gpm do get events for them
though (which is good) but I do not have any means of changing the
brightness now.

Unfortunately I have to reopen this bug report. My Brother HL-2030 just
stopped printing again. It's recognized by the system and installed with
HL-2060 drivers, which seems to be alright but when I try to print any
document or the test page the printing dialog appears but the document
will stay th

That is my experience too. If I boot an old kernel, I have no problem
at all. This is absolutely a regression against Gutsy.

Does not work for me, because I am using Tango, which uses some of the
48x48 emblems from the gnome-icon-theme. Changing the following part of
/usr/share/icons/gnome/index.theme will only makes some emblems appears
bigger. So should be an other solution!

I'm having a similar issue with Hardy. GDM displays at 1280x1024 but
when I log in, the Gnome desktop shows up at the correct 1600x1200
resolution. My monitor (Samsung SyncMaster213T) and/or video card Intel
GMA33 onboard do not get autodetected properly under Hardy, so I had to
manually configur

related. I have 2.6.22-14-generic and 7.10.

Updated to latest Hardy beta, and Kpilot crashes always with my Treo 680
