I can confirm this issue. Install goes well without any warnings or
errors.
Starting the application from the menu does nothing. When starting it from the
shell it fails with the following error:
Gdk-ERROR **: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)

There is no more glibc-doc-reference package in Hardy.
"sudo apt-get install glibc-doc-reference" installs glibc-doc.

no the wacom-tools package is not needed for normal operation of the Tablet.

Same here; I'm on Hardy using an nvidia card with the proprietary
drivers connected to a LCD monitor.
If I issue "xset dpms 0 0 60", the monitor powers off as expected but

thanks for your bugreport.
If you want to use the nvidia module you net to install also
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15-28-k7 or in general linux-restricted-modules-k7
If that doesn't fix your problem can you test it with an other Ubuntu Version?
For example with the latest Ubuntu developer v
