Hm.. My problem was gone, update manager warned me about several broken
packages, but it did continue. I unselected the language-pack upgrades,

Hi,
Ripping from DVD with dvd::rip. Everything works up to the point where I
press "Transcode". Then a number of commands are executed. The last one
fails, I'm not sure if this is wrong usage by dvd::rip or a error in the
transcode suit:

downgrading hal, libhal & network-manager and re-applying latest updates
seems to have resolved this problem for me

I had a similar result. I tried to print some pages (range 95-199) of a
pdf document with two pages on one. When I click on print evince starts
calculating and crashes after aprox. a minute without sending data to
the printer.
