they returned after disabling visual effects. this was on a HP dv2620us
laptop using a vga external LCD at 1680x1050,screen 1, and internal DVI

Arrgh. The screenshots don't show the corruption.I then clicked on totem
and got a hard lockup of my system with full graphical corruption. This
may be my system, or the trident drivers.

The libflickrnet side of the bug (which is not in Debian) is clear,
then. libflickrnet failed to register in the GAC on your system, causing
mautil to not find it.

To start with dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat is == dpkg -l PKGNAME so that's
kinda weird. At least you want something like dpkg -l | grep PKGNAME
since that'll pick up a lot more.
Personally, I would suggest getting rid of any CLI instructions for 1)
and 2) and then link to a "How to check a package versio
The downgrade workaround doesn't solve the problem here. Some starts of
OOo.org it seemed to be fine. But the fonts keep being invisible as
described above.
