I have not seen this in a long time, perhaps it was just some glitch in
the gnome 2.19 timeframe? Either way, killing it and restarting it
fixed it, so running with --verbose --no-daemon wasn't really an option.
I'm OK with closing this bug as no longer reproducible, if you so
choose.

Very new to Linux.
I'm encountering similar, and additional problems. Fresh install, all

no longer run anything that needs it, which is apparently anythin

Thanks to Vincent Lönngren for finding the issue with intel cards, I confirm
that this bug also happens with this intel card :
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,

I have the same problem this bug report describes.
When I try starting nautilus, it displays then seems to crash, then
reappears, then recrash, and so until I guess the maximum try count is
reached.
When starting in the command line, here's what I see :

In case of doubt, please note I'm reporting this bug using hardy. I
updated my sources.list manually one week ago and started using it.
